Sunday 5th March
In our services today we continue to look at a short theme of pre communion sermons entitled ‘ Songs of Praise’ . In the morning we look at a wonderful verse from Isaiah 12:2
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my Salvation “.
As we prepare our hearts for the Communion services next week, we look at some wonderful promises that God gives in His word to those who trust Him. Our assurance and our hope for the future and all that we are is based in who Jesus Christ is . Let’s make the confession of the psalmist our confession and profession too as we go into the Communions HE IS MY STRENGTH, HE IS MY SONG, HE IS MY SAVIOUR.
In the evening we look at another wonderful Song of Praise in Psalm 16. In this beautiful psalm the psalmist says that God is his portion his inheritance, his Cup, his lot . We often hear of people speaking of “our lot “ or our “portion” being described in a negative way as the things that have to endured in life . ” It is good to be reminded of how GOD IS HIS PEOPLE’S INHERITANCE , whether we have anything else or not. God is still able to set us free from feeling that we need other things or even people. We have a better promise, as we will see, THE LORD IS HIS PEOPLE’S INHERITANCE AND SHARE.
5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. Psalm 16:5-6 (NIV)
