In our new sermon series we look at some of the ‘3:16’s’ of the Bible. This is maybe a different series of studies, moving from book to book in the scriptures rather than focusing and studying one.

We believe the bible to be the inspired word of God , a book written over thousands of years which is as fresh and relevant today as when first written. We reminded of this in 2 Timothy 3:16

‘All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ‘.

2 Timothy 3:16

Although the words of the Bible are inspired, the system of chapter and verse numbering was put in later, to make it easier to navigate our way through the scriptures. It is remarkable though how often chapter 3 verse 16 in various books of the Bible are noteworthy. John 3:16 is the one that stands out,

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. ‘

JOHN 3:16

There are several places in scripture where these 3:16 verses stand out as if highlighted for us by God. Over the next while we will look at some of these texts.

These verses are all different as we would expect , but will help us look at several different aspects of bible teaching and doctrine such as , the character of God , the Holy Spirit, Salvation, and many aspects of the Christian life and living.

We began this series on Wednesday evening at the prayer meeting looking at Malachi 3:16 and the need for a healthy fear of God.

Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.”

Malachi 3:16

Please note for reasons of confidentiality the public prayers are not in this audio recording which consists only of the reading and address.
