Sunday School Family Service

Our Sunday school Summer family service this morning was an opportunity for us as a Church family to commemorate and give thanks for the work of the Sunday school during the past year. The Sunday School and their teachers will have a few weeks well earned rest during the Summer school holidays, and we hope and pray that they will all enjoy their break.

The theme for the Family service today was ” Follow Me!”

We looked at how God calls people to follow Him, and how important it is that we do follow Him in everything.

The young people of the Sunday school lead the prayers, and readings, and impressed everyone with their clear and confident readings from Bible. We were also very grateful for the help of the ‘ reinforcements’ from the creche who helped us with the actions to two Songs Father Abraham and Trust in the Lord.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

Proverbs 3:5

Our three talks this morning were entitled ;

  • ” FOLLOW ME ! ”

Abbie will be leaving the Sunday school at the end of this year, and although we are sorry to see her leave, we look forward seeing her in church and are so thankful to God for her and the great contribution she made to the life of the Sunday school.

Joan is finishing too as a teacher in the Sunday school after many years of faithful work as a teacher. She started teaching in the Sunday school in 2001 for what was supposed to be three weeks and ended up staying for eighteen years! We are very grateful for the dedicated hard work that Joan put in to teaching the Songs as well as the weekly classes, and we hope we may see her her again from time to time.

Joan and Abbie

At the end of the service Joan presented Abbie with a Bible from the Sunday school, and not to be out done Abbie presented Joan with a gift from the Sunday school at a small presentation in the Macrae Centre.

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.

Ephesians 5:1 (NLT)
